Daily Status, Sept. 18: UVA is of concern; College students are infecting the broader communties.

The update is late today because the data was late in updating from VDH.  The data was available at 11:30 AM. Situational AwarenessAcross the commonwealth of Virginia, there were 1242 reported new cases of COVID-19.  The number is more than one standard deviation above the recent average, which is expected at 16% of the time (or 1 in six days), so it is not concerning;  Overall, cases are flat  for the last three weeks. It is worth noting that, over over that time, 22% of the positives have been from colleges; today,  colleges account for 16% cases.   Regionally, all districts showing are flat to negative case growth. The testing numbers across the state remain ok, between 4 and 6% positive, which, if Virginia can maintain, will be significant, as that is the target number.
